Deciding to take a stroll with Sam through the local villages up onto the slopes of Mt Meru was a fabulous experience. The sun bearing down on us along the way, as we hiked uphill along the dusty roads which gradually turned into smooth paths the higher we ascended.
The green lush trees and vegetation grew denser along the way with village life gradually transforming into the odd house scattered along the roadside.
The kids come running out shouting at us with their basic phrase “how are you?” That’s about their limit until they leave primary for secondary schools, so very few conversations with the kids along the way.
The farm plantations of sugar cane, cabbage patches and corn pass by as we hike on higher and higher.
The stunning views across Arusha was definitely worth the slog up that mountain in that baking heat😜
