No trip to Beijing would be complete without seeing Tianamen Square and especially the rather large picture of Chairman Mao draped at the entrance. The effects of Maoism on current Chinese systems and practices is still huge and a respected leader of their country during some challenging years. His strong-willed approach and often ruthlessness and inconsistent decision making, make him a figure for understanding more about to get under the surface of Chinese society even today, more than 35 years after his passing. Any of you who recall or have seen the flag waving student in front of the tank in Tianamen Square would enjoy the feeling of being here.
