Yuantong Temple

Yuantong Temple is easy to find in the city centre on a busy and bustling high street in Kunming. We took a bus from our hostel area to this very quiet, scenic and peaceful place which took us by surprise with the general atmosphere out of place with its surrounding area of 8 million people.

Kunming is definitely an understated gem in the Yunnan Province. Although very modern with a huge financial district and retail shopping malls galore, its cleanliness and organisation was a joy. The silent scooters move along on their electric power with no horns beeping, whilst the buses whizz by on time and relatively easy for a foreigner to figure out their routes.
