65 kids in the school we are volunteering with in Umoja. Safisha has mainly poor single parent kids mixed with some orphans in the primary school. The cramped classrooms don’t prevent the children from being excited with being at school. I have a mixed class of Class 2,3 and 4 while sharki3 battles on with Class 1.

These kids are sad if there is no homework, but some have to hide their backpacks under their jumper to avoid being robbed on their way home, some can’t practice reading at home cos their are no books or there is no light, while others have to take care of a drunken abusive parent or guardian. But with all their challenges in life, in their class they are Superstars.
