Those of you who love the Pink Parade in Cape Town would adore the colours in Jaipur City although that’s where the similarity ends.

The Maharaja at the time wanted to impress HRH Prince Albert visiting Jaipur in 19th century so ordered all buildings to be painted this terracotta pink an even passed a law to this effect for all new buildings.

The effect today is quite stunning at the various main entry gates and the walls surrounding the city, but thats where the stunning ends. The rest of the enclosed city is a cacophony of horns blaring, people pushing and vehicles emitting large volumes of carbon monoxide.
